WELCOME TO OUR CHAPTER
Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our Chapter. We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so.
The beginning In 2011 a group of pilots began talking about possibly starting an EAA Chapter in eastern Kansas. A trip to Airventure in Oshkosh Wisconsin and conversations with EAA representatives just added fuel to the fire. In the fall of 2011 and informational meeting was set up to pitch the idea to local aviation enthusiasts. The response was outstanding with more than 25 in attendance. At the end of that first meeting, all in attendance felt there was a need and a desire to start a local EAA chapter. The work began and in February of 2012, the Experimental Aircraft Association granted us a local chapter, called the Eastern Kansas EAA Chapter 1535.
The Future The goals of our chapter all revolve around all things related to general aviation. Our plans include fly-ins, fly-outs and lots of food! We have a goal to reach out to the public to show them the benefits of general aviation. Education will be a large part of our focus, not only to the public but for our benefit as well. Of course what would an EAA chapter be without building? Several of our members are currently working on, dreaming of, or have completed airplanes. It is always fun to finish a meeting up with a tour of these planes.
Please join us! Please come out to one of our meetings or events and see for yourself. You might just find yourself joining!
